An Easter Poem

This was a poem written in 2008 about Easter

Twas the night before Easter

And all through the snow,

Shivery bunnies

Didn’t know where to go.

For this year at Easter

We had quite a storm.

It was hard to keep rabbits

And small children warm.

The children were nestled

All snug in their beds,

Dreaming of snowmen,

Icicles and sleds.

Ah, Easter in Toledo

Was lovely and white,

With sunlight on snow

Reflecting so bright

The Easter egg hunts

Must be inside.

Its too cold outdoors

For goodies to hide.

Rather than robins

Singing in trees,

We see snowmobiles, snowmen,

And people on skis.

Instead of pink dresses

And hats with pink bows,

The girls have pink cheeks,

Pink fingers, pink toes.

The crocuses were blooming

A few days ago.

Now they are covered by

A layer of snow.

No bugs or flowers

Not even a mosquito,

What a strange Easter

This year in Toledo.

The snow will end someday

On that you’ll rely.

Just hope it is gone

By the Fourth of July

Theis year in Toledo

Two thousand and eight

Easter is different

But still is just great!!

Happy Birthday Gloria

This poem was written for Rev. Gloria S. Moorehead for her eighty first birthday celebration.

Happy Birthday Gloria!

Gloria Moorehead – she’s our lady

She’s really cool, though she’s over 80!

Her smile is so bright – just like the sun.

She’s full of creativity, love, joy, and fun.

She started Angels Landing, she’s had a good run.

Now she thinks she’s retired, but we know she’s not done.

Finished – we think not, she’s only just begun

As our fearless leader, she’s second to none.

She makes our church a special place,

Full of laughter, inspiration and grace.

Spirituality is her passion

But she’s also stylish – the epitome of fashion.

She always looks so very pretty,

And when she speaks she’s smart and witty.

Gloria is our angel and we love her a ton!

It’s hard to believe she is now 81!

And speaking of birthdays, she’s had quite a few, and

We’ll all be together when she turns 82.
